Krishna's Transcendental Appearance

krishnas-transcendental-appearance

Krishna was born in the dark of night, at a time when the whole world was suffering under the oppression of powerful kings. Upon the appearance of Krishna, all directions became peaceful.

Auspicious stars shone in the sky and rivers flowed full of water, beautifully decorated with blooming lotus flowers. Birds in the
forests sang and peacocks danced, the wind blew pleasantly and flowers rained from the sky. Angels and celestial beings rejoiced, offering prayers, dancing and singing. At the seashore there was the sound of mild waves and above the sea the clouds thundered pleasantly while the full moon rose in the sky.

In the Bhagavad Gita, Krishna tells us, "Although I am unborn and My
transcendental body never deteriorates, and although I am the Lord of all sentient beings, I still appear in every millennium in My original transcendental form." Bhagavad-gita 4:6

Lord Krishna appears in this world because of His divine love for all living beings and for Mother Earth herself. He spent His childhood in the village of Vrindavan, surrounded by loving friends and tending cows in the forests. All of His activities were wonderful exchanges of love, attracting the hearts and minds of all. Indeed, Krishna's very essence is divine love.

In the Bhagavad Gita, Krishna calls us to love Him, "And when you have thus learned the truth, you will know that all beings are but part of Me, and that they are in Me and are Mine." Bhagavad Gita 4:35 Our longing for connection, for happiness, for freedom from fear will be satisfied when we embrace Krishna with love. The more our love for Krishna grows, the more our love for others will also grow. This divine love is the essence of Janmashtami.

Janmashtami reminds the world that God is not hate; God is love. God is not darkness; God is light.
